Training, assessment and licensing — what is the difference?
Demonstrate competency
A competency assessment checks knowledge and practical skills against the requirements of the task or qualification. Experience matters, but the evidence and assessment needed depend on the work.
Understand licence requirements
Some work requires a specific licence. For high risk work licences, training and assessment are provided by a registered training organisation and the relevant regulator issues the licence. Completing a course alone does not guarantee a licence.
